Mindfulness also involves acceptance, meaning that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them—without believing, for instance, that there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel in a given moment. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future.

It’s extremely difficult for a beginner to sit for hours and think of nothing or have an “empty mind.” We have some tools such as a beginner mediation DVD or a brain sensing headband to help you through this process when you are starting out. In general, the easiest way to begin meditating is by focusing on the breath — an example of one of the most common approaches to meditation: concentration.

CONCENTRATION MEDITATION

Concentration meditation involves focusing on a single point. This could entail following the breath, repeating a single word or mantra, staring at a candle flame, listening to a repetitive gong, or counting beads on a mala. Since focusing the mind is challenging, a beginner might meditate for only a few minutes and then work up to longer durations.

By working as a Holistic Practitioner, Talton has dedicated her life to those looking for alternative treatments. Therefore, in 2014, Sonja Secrets Wellness Center, located in Annapolis, Maryland, was officially opened. Her mission through her business is to create Theo perfect balance between Western and Holistic medicine. Maria Talton earned her Masters degree in Aromatherapy in March of 2016.

My journey to clear skin began many years ago when I grew up with severe facial dermatitis and psoriasis. I studied for six years and became a Aromatherapist and Holistic Practitioner  and thankfully my skin has since remained clear. When I developed severe eczema I felt helpless – the usual healthy foods made my skin worse. My family tried everything including allergy testing, topical steroids and dozens of eczema skin creams, but my eczema persisted.

I wanted to find a natural and healthy solution that was good for my whole body. So I developed a diet and supplement program to clear up my eczema. Since then, and for more than a decade, I have worked with people suffering from all types of eczema, dermatitis and topical steroid withdrawal (red skin syndrome). We don't claim to cure eczema but we wholeheartedly believe our programs change people's lives – and we work with people until they are eczema-free. 

We just want to spread the word to let others know there are natural, drug-free solutions for eczema and other types of skin inflammation.” 

As a certified Aromatherapist, Talton has for years now been helping individuals to heal naturally. Through her years of experience, Talton creates remedies with only all natural ingredients. In fact, her recipes for Aromatherapy are inspired by ancient medical systems from millenniums ago.
